March 15 – April 1, 2006
at The TADA! Theater
15 West 28th Street (between Broadway and Fifth Avenue)

Poseidon and Athena tell of the fall of the Trojan regime, informing us that tough decisions will have to be made in its wake. Journalist Talthybius follows the fate of the vanquished, using Geraldo-style tactics to land exclusive interviews with Helen and Andromache. Poseidon leads a political roundtable in the style of Charlie Rose. You are the studio audience, called upon to determine the fate of the vanquished.

Through a unique presentation, drawn almost entirely from the original Euripides text, this unconventional Trojan Women shows how the decline of objective, non-participatory press affects our collective awareness of suffering.

Director Linnet Taylor is from London, where her credits include Middleton and Dekker’s The Roaring Girl. New York productions include Such A Beautiful Voice is Sayeda’s by Yusef El Guindi, Passengers by Betty Shamieh, and Richard Greenberg’s Eastern Standard. She is an artistic fellow at the Lark Play Development Center, a Drama League directing fellow (2002 and 2004), a Geva Theatre guest directing fellow, and is a member of the Women’s Project Directors Forum.

Karinne Keithley, who won an Obie Award for Painted Snake in a Talking Chair, provides the choreography.

The cast includes Sara Barker (NY: Limitless Joy, Between Worlds), Joy Barrett, Russell Barnes, Albert Elias, Max Evjen (Off Broadway: Wit; NY: Between Worlds), Rajeeyah Finnie, Maria Kelly, T. Scott Lilly (NY: Between Worlds), Dana Panepinto (NY: Pitchfork Disney), Andrea Seigel, Jennifer Shirley (TV: Guiding Light, All My Children), Anne Sorce, Jennifer Wintzer, and a child actor to be announced.

All Stages of Learning teaching actors take part in a professional production with Chekhov Theatre Ensemble as a part of their professional development.
