Chekhov Theatre Ensemble Presents "Macbeth"

Queens Theatre in the Park and Stages of Learning are pleased to announce a special one-act version of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” just in time for Halloween. “Macbeth” will be performed by The Chekhov Theatre Ensemble, an award-winning resident company of actors trained in the methodology of Russian master Michael Chekhov. The Ensemble is made up entirely of actors who work as teaching-artists for Stages of Learning a subsidiary of QTP. The show will be performed in QTP’s intimate 100-seat Studio Theater. This production is recommended for audiences 10 years and older.

Macbeth is Shakespeare’s horror filled tale of fate and ambition; of bloody deeds done in the dark but never erased in the mind. Director Jen Shirley, herself a master teaching-artist, presents the story as a one-act ensemble piece. The actor’s in the Ensemble are: Albert Iturregui-Elias. Russell Feder. Laura Frenzer. T. Scott Lilly, Dana Panepinto, Andrea Seigel, Ann Vieira and Jennifer Wintzer. Previous Ensemble productions include, King Lear, Cyrano, Trojan Women and Between Worlds.

Since its founding in 1994, Stages of Learning has had a positive impact on more than 40,000 children and their teachers in the New York City metropolitan area. Through partnerships with schools, Stages of Learning builds on the schools' regular curriculum through literacy and theatre in grade 3-6. Using physical and vocal expression, Stages of Learning engages all children — including many who struggle with traditional teaching methods. The Chekhov Theater Ensemble offers a unique opportunity for training and professional development for the teaching artists.
